Africa has many ethnic groups with facisnating cultures. The Samburu live in Northern Kenya and are a nomadic population. They are closely related to the Masaai of East Africa. Samburu originally means "Butterfly." They are known for their face painting and use of bright colors.
Their diets include milk and cattle. They live in Manyattas which are huts built from mud and grass. The boys are taught how to hunt while the girls collect vegetables, tend to children and fetch water. Their traditional dress is a red cloth wrapped around like a skirt called Shukas.
