The Pygmies.

The pygmies are a large ethnic group whose average height is unusually low. They are scattered across the world especially in west and central Africa. Their average height for an adult man is about 4ft 11inches. There are various groups of pygmies in Africa.  For example; the Baka pygmies from Cameroon, Gabon and congo, and the Aka pygmies from central Africa.

The pygmies are forest dwellers and live primarily in small huts. They usually eat wild fruits and plants. Their main occupation is hunting. They are known to be one of the best elephant hunters in Africa. They worship the god of the forest and usually have male initiation rites and various rituals. They are known to be a primitive culture.

The Samburu of Kenya

Africa has many ethnic groups with facisnating cultures. The Samburu live in Northern Kenya and are a nomadic population.  They are closely related to the Masaai of East Africa. Samburu originally means "Butterfly." They are known for their face painting and use of bright colors.
Their diets include milk and cattle. They live in Manyattas which are huts built from mud and grass. The boys are taught how to hunt while the girls collect vegetables, tend to children and fetch water. Their traditional dress is a red cloth wrapped around like a skirt called Shukas.
